After reading Rhys Southan’s article, Is Art a Waste of Time?, for the second time I can officially say that I actually understood the text more the second time going through it. It also helped that I kept little side notes and put stars next to the ideas that I thought was important or even interesting. One of the things I’ve notice is how he kept getting these rejection letters for his film, yet he didn’t quite give up. Instead he said he could just keep sending it in, or even go to a different place. Right there spoke wonders to me. Many people instantly want to give up once they are rejected, but for him to be so confident in his work is an amazing thing. Rhys also talks about how other artists don’t care for the work they are doing, or have no interest in it. So, why are they doing it then? They could be doing many of other things. Just like donating there time or even some of the money they made off of those pieces of art work. If they did that maybe the world might start being a better place. Everyone just thinks about themselves now a days and with the EA’s help we can change that.
